Houston We Have a Problem

I have concluded that my plants are lacking of sun - most of them are 'leggy', or etiolated and slow in growth.  My potatoes are spindly, I've removed one tomato seedling for more space and of course, removed them to a sunnier spot.

A seedling grew right below the pot which I grew lavender- I don't think it's lavender. It could be poppy. Let's just wait!

My balcony is the best place to plant hydrangea.

Bali Hai Gold inflo.

A trip to a house depot found me these 3 products. Fish Emulsion made my hydrangea very happy because of that, I have quite a high expectation on Uplift which is also certified Organic. Let's hope it doesn't disappoint me!
I also bought more vermicompost which was MYR0.10 cheaper. Heh.

A Little Update

December is a busy month - having to have guests coming over almost every weekend, I had very little time for gardening. Arugula seedlings are rather stagnant in growth.

Carrot, fennel and tomato seedlings.

Avocado seedling is pretty big now. I notice the shoot growth is visibly faster than the root system.

Super growing potatoes!

One of my cut hydrangea bloom rooted so I stuck into the soil for a chance of growing.

Trying out a new self-watering system using a wine bottle.

Picked this pack up from Starbucks at my mom's! The Starbucks at our place runs out quick.

A Little Here and There

I managed to do a bit of gardening this morning before leaving to work.

Two of the potato seedlings are growing very rapidly that I added more soil.

Transferred the fennel seedlings to the planter. The roots wove into the paper pot I think I might have broken few of the roots whilst separating the seedlings. The top one is the tomato seedlings.

Also transferred some carrot seedlings to the pot!

Germinating kohlrabi seeds with water this time as the first time was unsuccessful. Beside is the new addition, basil which bought from local supermarket.

The blooms at its peak. So lovely! Not really keen on the pollen though.

Oh Hello!

Been a busy week so I did little gardening.
One of my Plumerias died so I replaced it with the Aster. Moved the aster seedlings prematurely as the BF knocked the tray off with his butt when he was climbing down from a ladder.

The reason why he was using the ladder - hanging the cactus up.

Arugula seedlings are rather slow-growing - only one of them slowly growing true leaves.

Florence Fennels are slower than carrots. I should be moving the carrot seedlings to a pot soon.

Potatoes are growing quite rapidly. Soil was added twice.

4 of 8 tomatoes seedlings were already transferred to a planter. A pack of vermicompost was added to the soil.

 The amaryllis is blooming!

New Foreign Additions

BF's mom and younger sister are here for a visit and the mom brought some foreign friends - Royal Red Amaryllis, Aloe Vera from Gran Canaria and 2 varieties of cactus.

My seedlings are doing pretty well.
True leaves of tomato seedlings have took its form and the roots have rather long and already intertwined with one another. I'm going to have problem separating them out soon.

Not all powder puff aster seeds germinated - maybe they need a little more time.

Cute arugula seedlings.

Fennels and carrots too have its true leaves.

My seed potatoes grew!

Finally hung the purslane using my homemade pot hanging rope.
.

Bought 2 packs of vermicompost to try out since home composting is not possible at the moment.

Weekend Task

Saturday morning saw me visiting my usual nurseries at Tropicana to get more soil. Dropped by at the first nursery, Kohortica to say hi to the friendly staff. They are well-stocked with roses and beautiful red lilies this time that it is such a shame I have just a balcony! Katsura has the best gardening soil by Gafri and it is so cheap - a pack of 28 litre for MYR10. I got myself 3 packs of them and 2 Baba Planters with the wrought iron window planter box.

Finally planted 3 of the chitted potatoes - 2 in a plastic woven sack I found at work and 1 in the gardening soil bag.

An update on the seedlings - Arugula has sprouted. The rest are growing but I kind of worry about the kohlrabi - they haven't sprout so I put new seeds into the pots again today.
