New Experiment

So I figured since I love snow pea sprout a lot that I should plant them but turned out the seller didn't have the variety, instead she recommended me the next best thing - Super Sugar Snap Pea which its young shoots are edible too. She threw in a pack of winged bean seeds as a freebie but I have not any space for big plants so I reckon I will be giving the seeds away to a colleague.

Germinating 4 seeds of Super Sugar Snap Peas.

My hydrangea has at least 4 new bloom buds growing at the moment, I would really like to trim her down but it is such a waste since it's blooming season!

She also has a new occupant - baby praying mantis.

Brisk Update

Woke up early to walk Coco and had some extra time to fuss about at the balcony. Here's some pictures to show what's going on.

My hydrangea is fickle - now she has some pink tinge back in her blooms :). I noticed she is growing more flower buds. I'm happy that she's happy.

French bean seedlings are also doing pretty well.

A pleasant surprise that I saw last night - Kauka Wilder is growing a mini inflo!

Alas, Coco is chilling along with me next to the avocados.

Starting Anew

I gave up on the florence fennel seedlings for they are stunted so I pulled all of them out and re-sowed 3 seeds. My salad planter (Arugula, bok choy & cress) suffered a bit from my absence so many turned brown.  I might be losing another kaffir lime seedling - lacked of water too.

A pleasant surprise - the adenium/desert rose is going to bloom again. :)

New Amaryllis

BF's sister brought another amaryllis from Germany. Wonder what colour is this. It seems to have 3 blooming stems. I have clue what the colour is.

My french beans are growing pretty ok.

Some peppermints that I got from the supermarket. Three survived and grew roots, I cleared the lemongrass and planted the mint here. I also have no clue what variety is this. It's my first time trying this mint.

Also cleared the hopeless florence fennel for raap rapini.

Herbs and Beans

Bought some mints for dinner and trying to root them in water. Let's see.

I transplanted the french bean seedlings today lost one more seedling but it's ok. 2 plants should be sufficient.

Morning Post

The amaryllis is at least 2 feet tall it's scaring me. But then again, it shows it's loving here.

Hydrangea head is getting smaller. I'm back to feeding her Yates. Miracle-gro changed her to blue.
-_-

That aside, this post is more of an seedling update.

Tomato growing steadily but still leggy.

More raap rapini germinated.

The bigger raap rapini seedling.

Carrot.

French bean seedling! Success after 2 attempts in different methods (straight into sowing pot and wet towel in ziplock bag). This time I did the basic wet cotton pad and removed the husk once it's soft. Success rate is 75%. One rotted.

Hydrangea seedling - finally grew a shoot.

Not really a seedling anymore - ginger.

Lavender & kaffir lime.

Lost 1 florence fennel seedling yesterday.

The newer florence fennel seedlings.

I'm quite convinced that those are weeds. I should only have 3 aster seedlings - one is a little too small to confirm.

Bok choy didn't look so good. Didn't water yesterday.

Threw in more seeds into the arugula/bok choy planter. Seeds my BF bought when he was in still Zurich. On a second thought, I should have done sowed them in a more shallow tray since they are microgreens. Last check this morning, 2 germinated.

Gave 2 kaffir lime seedlings away to colleague and the cleaner at workplace. Lost the first kaffir lime (don't know why). Will be giving out one more to my colleague.

Avocados.

Arugula.

Lavender.

Carrot.

Florence Fennel & garlic. Transplanted the rest of the seedlings to the new planter.

Bok Choy.

Arugula. Notice the new seedlings? Threw in more seeds.

Aster, with possibly weeds.

Raap rapini.

Back to blue hydrangea.

Bali Hai Gold still going strong.

PS - Pulled out the potatoes, they were a failure.

Hot Changes

Weather is getting hotter of late. I suppose it helps my edibles in growth but it overheating my hydrangea! Two days away from home had my hydrangea burnt. Will be away again from home soon so I've invested in Ikea's self-watering pot which also has wheels. I might be wheeling it in the living room when I'm gone. Repotting was rather easy but wasteful as I had to break the terracotta pot.

Moving onto seedlings. The arugula is doing fine but I can't say about the bok choy. The heat got the best of them, 1 1/2 patch kaput.

Most of the pots are super dry. The moment I reached I watered them. I lost one of my lavender seedlings.

Kaffir lime seedlings doing fine.

The aster seedlings are ok. This one is definitely not aster.

Just one Raap Rapini seed germinated.
