Longer & Warmer Days

Yay, spring is finally here! I'm so happy. 

Neighbors have started to do some spring cleaning and planting flowers in their garden. While mine.... well has a bit of color now that the tulips are starting to bloom.

Finally! Pink Charms bloomed! For a while I thought I got cheated.

This patch of darker tulips are taking its time to bloom.

The buds on the branches of the hydrangea on the right side of the garden is wilting although the growth on the base isn't. Don't know whats going on with her?

 Random plant that I'm looking forward to seeing bloom. I think I planted something there but I don't remember what.

Edibles.

My starters. Some not doing too well. Previous salad and green onionsseedlings died because I was neglecting them.

This baby is out enjoying the sun although I haven't seen any new growth. Well as along as it's not etiolating I guess it's fine?

Nothing Like When You Grow Your Own Edibles

The plot has been doing pretty ok - I really need to do something with the weeds and I should have fertilize the plot prior. 

Cabbages are a little too slow to my liking. 

Hello zucchini! I'm growing Magda variety.

The biggest broccoli and at the back is the red okra. The red okra started to bloom at less than 5 inches so I pinched all of them and they grew bigger. 

I think this is french bean!

I've also planted some Japanese cucumbers.

Snow pea! The flowers are so pretty! And look! I have my first pea!

It's difficult to focus and the mosquitoes wore my patience thin.

Borlotti beans! Don't know what happened to the one on the right. It wilted today suddenly.

I chose to grow carrots in the pot with fantastic soft soil so I could get picture perfect carrots.

 The remainder of the kailans I grew - I sowed some seeds to fill the space.

I've got some arugula growing too.

And some lionhead/curly lettuce.

I've also recently added stevia to my herb plot.

Tuesday Noon

Sweet potato has grown a couple of slips. 

Doesn't seem like the Thai Basil will grow root. Maybe I could collect the seeds from the flowers.

Heirloom tomato seedlings.

Hydrangea has a huge surprise for me. Look at that!

Her sprouts are growing bigger too. I'm glad she's happy here. 

Chinese kale ain't that happy.

So is the Magnolia Lily. Lost few leaves. Note the birdnest fern my bf got from me. I noticed it growing from a rail on our apartment lobby and I told him I wanted it. He surprised me this.

The slimmest edamame pods I've ever seen.

Balsam seedlings and the highland hydrangea co-existing peacefully.

More growth on the Magnolia Coco.

For some weird reason, like my Magnolia Lily, one branch lost all its leaves but Coco is growing some sprouts.

Finally some visible growth for Avocado Miki.

Another drastic growth is Bachelor's buttons.

Cute little growth tuberose.

I didn't close the door tightly and Odyssey got out and lay herself comfortably. She does this because I can't carry her into. 

Tiny Spruce Up and New Beginning

I was a little concerned with my Tuberose, although it's doing well, I thought it could need some space so separating them would be a great idea. 

I cleaned the clay and separated into 3 portions and transplanted them in a bigger planter.

After transplanting the tuberose, an inspiration to clean up and re-arrange came and it came at a very wrong time - mid-day when the sun is at its best. Spent maybe 15 minutes and here it is:

Avocado Miki and Longan: Miki grew a little while I don't see Longan growing at all that's why I move to the front so Longan gets more sun.

Magnolia Coco is reputedly a slow grower but I do see new leaf buds.

Hydrangea looks great - this is before mid-day. She wilted a little when the sun was the strongest.

Highland hydrangea doesn't look like it's gonna make it judging from my experience.

I uprooted the 2 balsam plants that I had as they were infested by whiteflies and spidermites so I'm resowing new seeds. They germinated very quickly - you could see them germinated the day after.

Edamame! Just need few more days so they are more filled up.

My precious, precious PRECIOUS Magnolia Lily. I can see she's liking here, I can see her forming new leaf buds.

 I cut cordyline and put them on vase on my dining table and they rooted so I chopped them off and plunked them onto the same pot. Well look at them! I just love how crazy bright they are when they have most sun. 

This place has becoming the succulent corner.
