Oops I...

So erm, the fernleaf cactus aka Selenicereus chrysocardium seems to have a type of virus so I was told to smear some cinnamon on them. Hope that works.

And so I got myself a Monstera Variegata cutting. I believe it is an Albo Borsigiana looking at how she grows. 

Today I finally sorted some things out.

Made myself a cutting from the Monstera Adonsonii. 

Got myself leaves of Peperomia Hovaria & Rosso and a very tiny Philodendron Pedatum sapling when I went to the nursery to get a pot for Adonsonii.

Finally, Pluto pushed that leaf out revealing another two leaves. That leaf was like a stubborn plug! I've been putting Pluto near the humidifier. I'm unsure if that's the factor.

I also combined both the Squamis so she looks so much fuller despite just the extra two leaves. Repotting her also made her look tidier and her leaves are more prominently displayed.

So was the Adonsonii. She's a beauty. Interesting fact: the true size of the mature leaf is up to 30cm. What a giant.

A Gung Ho Move

Seeing that trimming the roots of Magnolia did some wonder with some new shoots coming out from her, I did the same to Calla Lilies and Avocado. 

 Avocado has been suffering from dried leaves which I thought to be burned from sun but the thing is that only mature leaves are like that. New leaves aren't burned. It has to be something else making it this way, isn't it? I noticed some blackened roots after pulling her out from soil. I also moved her under the plumeria tree for shade to let her rehab.

After some rots, I pulled her out to clean the rot from the bulbs. Hope this will perk her up a bit seeing all the blooms are dried out. Having that said, I need to learn more about her.

Ylang-ylang is showing off. I think she will love the new house. Also, I will be planting her into the ground and will be practising my grafting (morbid!) on her so I can leave her there and have my own Ylang-ylang when we move again.

My sole surviving lavender sharing house with an onion. I am considering to purchase more lavender as I need to combat mosquito issue. Other plants in the combat list will be basil 

My tomatoes bloom kept falling off due to lack of sun. Maybe I just move her to the new house already. 

Ms Ridleyi is growing pretty well except that I didn't realise I cracked her couple of fronds.

I also broke Ms Bifurcatum the younger's shield when I was transpotting her from the bathtub after shower.

 What a wall. I will replicate and improve this in the new house. Am also veery tempted to change Bifurcatum sisters' frame to a lighter and slimmer one like Ms Ridleyi's for a sleeker and graceful look.

Drastic Measure

I'm suspecting the magnolia lily is suffering from root rot so I pulled it out, washed away the soil and cut the roots. I really hope this will help her.
Other than that, I've transplanted the Thai basil into the sweet potato pot, let's hope they survive.
Tuberose looked paler and drier than usual and with a closer look, they are being attacked by spider mites.
I dismounted the staghorn fern from the ikea frame as it grew mold, I left it in the kitchen sink for a soaking and Odyssey got hold of it, shredding some of the leaves off.
Sigh.

Update on the Locals

A little more than a week away from home saw some plants flourished, some fell back.

Raab rapini flourished but not without a pesy infestation. 

Tomato still growing despite falling back. A new shoot grew rapidly I cut the main one off.

The hydrangea cutting with the strongest root system withered. Quickly stuck them into soil to see if it will help.

Couple of days before leaving, Nancy the hydrangea withered so much I believed it was water-clogged. 

I should harvest the ginger soon.

Adenium grew some blooms surprisingly.

Some baby mother of thousands that I gotten along the street. 

The cactus was probably water-clogged too. Lavender suffered a bit too.

I didn't get to see the gardenia bloom again. Sigh.

Up and Down

I snipped the shoot tip of the avocado plant to encourage branching last week and there seem to be 4 shoots growing.

It's been really dry lately I mulched raap rapini planter. The plants look good.

The starfish cactus suffered from the white stuff infested my plumerias. I've finally identified this variety. Some of them rotted and I managed to salvage a cutting and planted it in another pot.

Only 3 cuttings of hydrangea survived thus far. The shoot hasn't rooted yet. One roots the best.

My mini plum tomato still flowers but kept drying out.

It's been quite disappointing lately. None of the seeds I I lost another lavender seedling to dry weather.

I also lost another plumeria, this time Penang Peach. It black-rotted. Don't know what happened.

Weekend Project and Gemusegarten Update

This weekend saw me kicking off a project that I've been putting off due to holidays and such - vertical garden for the other apartment. Spent RM500 just for the plants. The planters cost even more, if I'm not mistaken. Bought them months ago. This project isn't cheap. 

Plant shopping was done in less than 2 hours which was not bad considering that it started out difficult despite having to prepared with this excel sheet beforehand. 

What threw me off was that I was not able to find the plants I wanted and also keeping track of what I've chosen. I'm a bit scatter-brained. Halfway through, I just gave up on being a stickler on the plant variety and I selected whatever I thought was nice-looking. I let nature play its part. 

The project involved much more time, soil and courage that I expected. It took me about 8 hours and 2 packs of soil. I participated less than a pack of soil which translated into another trip to the nursery.  Courage was for me to face acrophobia. Nevertheless, it was a very satisfying project and a very good Stairmaster workout. 

I bought about 60 plants for 72 stations of vertical garden. I divided some of the plants. Here's the result.

This is the inspiration by the way.

I got this dwarf birds nest for free.

Moving on to my gemusegarten, my raab rapini is doing great.

So is the tomato plant.

 Snap pea seedling and green onion.

I cut the wrong (yet to flower) branch of the hydrangea the other day so I'm doing water propagation. The shoots are growing nicely but there isn't any roots yet.

 BF let Odyssey out at the balcony the other day and she stealthily put out a lavender seedling. 

I thought I lost my basil. They bounced back to life after I trimmed them. The trimmed leaves, I nuked them in the microwave and freeze them.

Did the same thing for the rosemary. She's fattening nicely.

A lot of my plants including the cactus were infested some really shit white pests. Bought 2 bottles of neem oil. I mixed it vigorously with water in a spray bottle. Worked perfectly. My grey flower plumeria took the worst hit but it bounced back after 2 sprays of neem oil mixture. 

What's left of my Maung Pani plumeria. Odyssey pulled it out. So sad. 

This is Odyssey, the nemesis. She's recuperating from hips dysplasia surgery. She will be banned from the balcony for the rest of her life.
