Oops I've Been Lazy

Lazy to do write an entry here anyway. Well I'm not as productive as I wanted to do also on gardening.
Anyway.... this is the progress of Rae's happiness is a plot. I'm contemplating if I still need to make a fence so Odyssey won't be able to take over the plot.

Seeds that I've sown since last week: African Marigold 'Fantastic Gold', Autumn Beauty Sunflower, Edamame, Snow pea, red okra, kohlrabi, red bowl salad lettuce, raab rapini, Canton pakchoy, chinese kale (Kailan) and carrot.

I also added mugwort into my edibles. I purchased saplings from Carousell and turned out that there's some growing out from a heap of compost the previous tenant left.

My herb garden. What didn't survive - the parsleys and lavender.

My dwarf plumeria was so water-clogged that it rotted bounced back and bloomed.

Also sowed the remaining of bachelor's button, balsam and evening primrose (primrose didn't germinate)

It's either lemon or mandarin.

My very cute maidenhair.

My adenium is a prolific bloomer and still suffers the same curse.

There are 5 mulberry bushes/trees on the compound and they suffered curled up shoots (fungal infection?) so I decided to prune them. Plus pruning encouraged them to fruit.

My lowland hydrangeas show growth which is a great sign.

The heirloom tomatoes that I sowed turned out to be red zebras. A few split and I'm unsure if it's getting early blight of just too dry as the leaves are dried up. I had some for lunch today.

The jasmine-like plant that I rescued has paid back to me by flowering for me.

I'm very happy that I didn't kill the portulacas left by the previous tenant and they have started flowering. They are some planted in the pot and I'm thinking to move them to ground.

I actually also have a hibiscus growing close to the veggie plot although it's not doing so well lately. This was taken earlier this month.

I have also invested in a compost bin. Oh YAS.

Just a random shot of the dogs enjoying the late noon.

Here and There

I've been cracking my head on how to make a new mount for the staghorn -  I even went to scout for some wood in the mini jungle next to my building. Found a nice dead trunk but I didn't spray myself with mozzie repellant so I gave up sawing it half way. Just too many mozzies. And then I found some sticks in our laundry room that were left by the previous house owner and so I decided to make a lattice. Sawing them into shorter length was the easiest part, turned out hammering the nails was the worst thing ever. I gave it up and used hot glue and strings instead. To think I'd be as skillful as my dad in carpentry....

Stupid Odyssey pulled her out from the kitchen sink breaking the fronds and she also bit a chunk of the shield 😭.
**Update: this is supposedly elkhorn fern, Platycerium bifurcatum.

My poor hydrangea! She seems recovering a little bit, growing some shoots out.

On a better note.... look at this perfection.

Longan surprised my by growing new leaves.

I'm still suffering from a curse - adenium can't bloom fully!

Sweet potato sharing pot with Thai basil. The former isn't doing pretty well though.

My heart breaks as I'm witnessing Magnolia losing more leaves. I really hope I'm doing the right thing.

Went to the local florist today and got myself some sunflowers and some James Storie Orchids. Love how vivid the colors are!

A few pictures I took from the florist.

Was very tempted to buy the hibiscus but...

Another Hit and Miss

Some plants aren't doing great and I had to have a minor surgery on my foot that I didn't get to spend time taking care of the plants. It has been also too hot lately.

Well, some plants are loving the sun, especially the ylang-ylang.

The younger bachelor buttons could not withstand the sun, 2 died.

Yellow calla lilies died. I'm thinking to report this to a smaller pot.

My poor hydrangea.

I should move the tomato planter out to the sun.

2 of the sweet potatoes died. Leaving another 2, the smaller one is not doing too well.

It's so hot, I'm bringing the magnolia lily in. Can't risk it.

Tiny Spruce Up and New Beginning

I was a little concerned with my Tuberose, although it's doing well, I thought it could need some space so separating them would be a great idea.

I cleaned the clay and separated into 3 portions and transplanted them in a bigger planter.

After transplanting the tuberose, an inspiration to clean up and re-arrange came and it came at a very wrong time - mid-day when the sun is at its best. Spent maybe 15 minutes and here it is:

Some close ups of the plants:
Avocado Miki and Longan: Miki grew a little while I don't see Longan growing at all that's why I move to the front so Longan gets more sun.

Magnolia Coco is reputedly a slow grower but I do see new leaf buds.

Hydrangea looks great - this is before mid-day. She wilted a little when the sun was the strongest.

Highland hydrangea doesn't look like it's gonna make it judging from my experience.

I uprooted the 2 balsam plants that I had as they were infested by whiteflies and spidermites so I'm resowing new seeds. They germinated very quickly - you could see them germinated the day after.

Edamame! Just need few more days so they are more filled up.

My precious, precious PRECIOUS Magnolia Lily. I can see she's liking here, I can see her forming new leaf buds.

I cut cordyline and put them on vase on my dining table and they rooted so I chopped them off and plunked them onto the same pot. Well look at them! I just love how crazy bright they are when they have most sun.

This place has becoming the succulent corner.

New leaf buds forming!
